Roseville Gateway Education Programs
Administration of Justice
The Administration of Justice program is housed at the Roseville Gateway Campus. The program offers a degree in Administration of Justice with three different areas of concentration.
- Law Enforcement: specializing in police activities including effective patrol services to the public.
- Courts: specializing in responsibilities to the public through the trial system.
- Corrections: prepares students for careers in corrections, probation and parole.
The Post Academy Program also offers a post-certified modular police academy - that allows students to attend the police academy on a part-time basis, 2-3 nights a week and on weekends. This training is required to become a full-time or reserve police officer.

Community Education
The Sierra College Community Education program offers short classes and activities for fun, for personal growth, and professional development at the Roseville Gateway Campus and other locations throughout the District. Classes are not-for-credit and offered as a complement to the college’s credit programs. Community Education is self-supporting and participant fees cover the costs of instructors, facilities, and registration.
Classes and activities advertised through the Kaleidoscope schedule provide individuals with an opportunity to explore a special interest, upgrade a job skill, develop a hobby, or learn something new. Topics include business and workforce, computers, creative arts, dance, health and fitness, food and wine, home and garden, language and writing, personal growth, student success, and trips and travel. The Community Education office is located in the Campus Plaza Shopping Center shopping Center across from the Rocklin campus. Fire Technology
The Fire Technology program is housed at the Roseville Gateway Campus. The program prepares students for careers in the fire service and also provides educational and training opportunities for employed and volunteer firefighters. The Associate Degree and Certificate programs incorporate the standardized Fire Technology curriculum identified by the offices of the California State Chancellor and State Fire Marshal. Elective courses are those developed under the guidelines of related fire service training and educational programs. Most Fire Technology courses, up to 30 units, may be transferred to CSU.
The Firefighter I Academy is offered through partnerships with the Placer and Nevada County Fire Chief's Associations and the City of Roseville Fire Department. Sierra College is recognized by the California State Fire Marshal and the State Board of Fire Services as an Accredited Regional Fire Academy.
Gateway to Business
The Gateway to Business program is our one-class-per-month program for working professionals, leading to an Associate’s degree in Business Administration in two years. Classes meet two nights per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and some Saturday mornings at our Roseville Gateway Campus. In most cases, coursework is equal to the first two years of study at CSUS and UC schools.

The Faculty: Most courses in this program are taught by working professionals who enjoy sharing their expertise with others. These instructors bring a wealth of real-world expertise to their classrooms.
The Facilities: Our Roseville Gateway Campus is conveniently located on Sunrise Avenue, approximately one mile south of Douglas Boulevard, in Roseville.

- you can focus your attention on one subject at a time
- expenses can be spread out rather than paid in one lump sum at the beginning of the semester

Health Sciences/Emergency Medical Technician Training
The majority of Health Sciences courses are designed to prepare students for employment at the “basic skills” level in a variety of health occupations. Other courses in this area are designed to improve or update the skills of individuals currently employed in rendering health care. EMT courses are held at Roseville Gateway campus and conveniently offered during the evenings hours and/or weekends.

Nursing Program
- Registered Nurse:
The Nursing Department offers an Associate’s Degree in Nursing that qualifies the students to take the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). The curriculum, approved by the California State Board of Registered Nursing, consists of both nursing and related general education courses, plus additional general education degree requirements. The nursing courses include theory classes and supervised concurrent clinical practice in local health care agencies. Some clinical practice evenings, nights, and weekends may be assigned. Upon passing the exam, registered nurses are eligible to work in a variety of settings within the health care system as beginning staff nurses.
- Upward Mobility (LVN to RN):
California LVN’s currently employed in a hospital or skilled nursing facility may apply for the Upward Mobility Program after completing program pre-requisites and requirements. Students complete the last half of the RN program (NR 14-20) and graduate with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and are eligible to sit for the RN licensure exam.
- Precertification Nursing Assistant Training:
Take Fundamentals of Nursing (N.A. 3) in one semester to become eligible for certification by the state as Nursing Assistants (CNA).

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Sierra College - Classes for Adults with Inquiring Minds
At Sierra College we believe learning is a lifetime pursuit. That's why Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Sierra College offers a wide range of challenging, high-quality learning experiences for active adults. Although these courses are designed for adults age 55 and over, there is no age limit for enrollment.
Classes are free and noncredit, without the worry of tests or grades. They are also offered in short modules - just one class meeting a week for four weeks, to more easily fit into busy lifestyles. No previous educational background is necessary, just a desire and an interest to learn or experience something new.
All Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Sierra College courses are approved by the Sierra College Curriculum Committee and are taught by experienced faculty. Although the program is housed at the Roseville Gateway Campus, courses are also taught at many other locations throughout the district. For more information call (916) 781-6290.
