Assessment Process for New Students

  1. Apply.  You must submit a Sierra College Online Application in order to make an assessment appointment. You may also complete an application in person at the Rocklin, Nevada County, Roseville Gateway or Tahoe-Truckee Admission Office. Please wait 3 to 4 business days for your application to be processed, or until you receive a ‘Welcome to Sierra’ email.
  1. Create Your My Sierra Account: You must create a My Sierra account to obtain your student identification number. Your My Sierra Account username and password are different than the Online Application.  Make sure that you write down and remember your Sierra College Student Identification Number.
  1. Take Assessments. All Assessments are by appointment only. Call one of the following numbers to schedule an assessment appointment:
For the Rocklin Campus:  916-660-7430

For Tahoe Truckee Campus: 530 550-2225
For the Nevada County Campus: 530 274-5303

Note: Assessment results are available immediately after testing or accessible online via your MySierra Account.

Remember:  You must know your student I.D. number to take the test. You will not be admitted to an assessment session without a testing appointment!
You will not be admitted to an assessment session without photo identification.

The Sierra College Assessment Center also provides ESL (English as a Second Language) Assessment at no charge throughout the semester, for placement into ESL classes.

Assessments are also used to determine ATB (Ability to Benefit).

Transfer Students

Transfer students who have completed assessments at another college may send results to the Sierra College Assessment Center, 5000 Rocklin Rd., Rocklin Ca 95677, or fax results to the Rocklin Campus at 916-630-4513, or the Nevada County Campus at 530-274-5307. Please include your Sierra College student I.D. and contact information on any documents you send. These results must be received prior to registering for any classes.

Assessments in Reading, English, and Math help determine your skill level and course placement and are required, at no charge, for new students. If you have accessibility concerns, these sample tests are also available at Rocklin Assessment Center or Nevada County Campus Counseling Office.
