Rocklin Campus Improvements
Math and Technology Building
The Math & Technology Center is a classic example of the power of partnerships. In 2003, the project was selected to receive a total of $18,798,000 from the State of California with matching funds provided by the District. The project, which broke ground on August 9th, recently received almost $15 million of those funds for construction from the State Community College Chancellors Office, thus putting the project into high gear. When finished, the over 60,000 square foot state-of-the-art center will have the capacity to serve up to 3000 new students over the next few years.
The Math & Technology building will have three floors that will be home to 21 classrooms, 17 labs, 9 instructional assistant offices and 50 faculty offices. The classrooms will incorporate some of the hottest new fields of training such as Mechatronics, Computer Programming, Drafting, Mathematics, Computer Integrated Electronics and Anthropology. Construction of the building will be finished by spring of 2007.
Building Update
Rocklin Facilities Implementation Plan:
A team of NTDStichler architects and Sierra College faculty/staff are working through a collaborative process to evaluate the needs of the Rocklin Campus in anticipation of the June 2006 bond. NTDS has completed walking through all the buildings on the bond initiative with their design team. The next step is to incorporate consultant recommendations with the architectural analysis for cost estimating and steering committee review. The NTDS intends to complete the Facilities Implementation Plan in May.
HVAC Improvements at M & G Buildings:
Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning equipment at both the Humanities and Gymnasium buildings were over 40-years old and failing. This project funded by the California Community College Scheduled Maintenance Program (a 50% match with District dollars) will upgrade the equipment and, for the first time ever, will provide air conditioning in the gym. The gym building is 90% complete and construction at the M building will take place over the semester break.
