Academic Senate Goals
For 2007-2008
- Complete a study on part-time hiring practices and make recommendations to Dean’s Council and Strategic Council.
- Initiate a thorough Academic Senate review of the Sierra College Hiring Manual.
- Initiate a review of our local equivalency process and engage in dialogue with the district regarding any necessary improvements or amendments.
- Improve communication with faculty at-large and other faculty representative bodies such as SCFA.
- Create stronger and more supportive relationships between the Academic Senate and its standing committees.
- Promote faculty participation in committees and on issues that fall within the Academic Senate purview.
- Examine faculty evaluation processes with an eye toward the new accreditation standards and student learning and make recommendations to the district.
- Initiate a discussion with ASSC to identify best practices to better serve the students of Sierra College.
- Increase awareness of the district’s Academic Freedom policy and the Senate’s Academic Ethics Policy.
- Assess the role of the Academic Senate and its functions in enhancing student learning.
