Kenneth Sahl, Teacher

Kenneth Sahl began his career at Placer College in 1947. He then went on to graduate from Chico State with a degree in Life Science. In 1951 he received his secondary teaching credential.

Ken began his teaching career in 1951 as a science teacher at Grass Valley and Nevada Union High School. In 1955 he received his Masters degree from Stanford University in School Administration. He then went on to teach science at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, CA. “The contrast between life in the city and the good life in the foothills directed me home.” From there he taught science at Placer High School in Auburn for three years.

Colfax's First High School Principal

In 1959 Ken became the first principal of Colfax High School until 1964. In 1964 he became the first principal of Oakmont High School in Roseville where he remained until 1976. While on sabbatical he earned his EdD degree from the University of Idaho in Administration.

Superintendent, Roseville High School District

From 1976 to 1989 Mr. Sahl worked at the Roseville Joint Union High District office. In 1989 he retired as Superintendent of the Roseville High School District.

Member, Placer County Board of Education

As an active community member Mr. Sahl has been President of the Roseville Rotary Club as well as the Foundation here at Sierra College. He is a member of the Roseville Healthy Cities Coalition, and has been a member of the Roseville Parks and Recreation Commission for the last eight years and a member of the Placer County Board of Education for the last sixteen years.
