Spybot
Spybot will remove most of the spyware infection from your computer. If you already have Spybot installed, proceed to the Usage Instructions section for instructions on using Spybot. If you have any questions or need help, please call the Help Desk at 1234.
Spybot S&D Wizard Instructions (necessary for first time use only)
- Double click the Spybot desktop icon.
- Click Next at each of the windows that appear during the wizard process.
- Click Start using the program. Continue to the next section.
Usage Instructions
The following directions will guide you through the process of scanning your computer for spyware infection, removing the spyware, and immunizing your computer from spyware threats.
- Double click the desktop Spybot icon. Once Spybot is open, update the software. Since there are always new computer viruses appearing, new spyware tries to keep up. If your Spybot is not updated, it could miss new spyware on your system. Click "Search for Updates" button. If no updates are available, a window will appear telling you so. If updates are available, they will show up on screen. You will need to check the boxes to download the updates. Then download and install them.
- Now click Check for problems. Wait a few minutes while the scan runs (the status will appear at the bottom of the window).
- When the scan is finished, you should see a list of spyware found on the computer. Click Fix selected problems, Yes, and OK as you are prompted.
- Occasionally “Immunize” the program to protect your system from new threats. To do so, click Immunize in the left column and click OK on the warning message. Click the +Immunize icon and wait a moment.
