High School Academic Enrichment
Academic Enrichment (AE) gives students the opportunity to attend college courses and receive college credit before they graduate from high school.
Students are eligible who:
- Are in grades 9-12 and can benefit from college instruction*
- Have consent from a parent/ guardian and high school principal
* Be advised that college classes are designed for adults, and may not be appropriate for some AE students.
What courses are available to AE students?
Due to changes in California Education Code Sections 48800 & 76001, Academic Enrichment students are restricted from specific courses offered by Sierra College. For a list of those courses please refer to this restricted courses list. or see your high school counselor or any Sierra College Admissions Office.
How much does it cost?
Special part-time students (most high school students will be in this category) will have enrollment, health, & e-Reg fees waived. Student center fee, material fees, non-resident tuition and/or International student tuition will be charged, if applicable. Special part-time students may register in up to 11 units.
Special full-time students (exempt from compulsory attendance) are responsible for all Sierra College fees, including enrollment, health, e-Reg fees, and the student center fee. For a list of those fees please refer to the Fees page online or in the printed schedule. Material fees, non-resident tuition, and/or International student tuition will be charged, if applicable. Special full-time students may register in up to 18 units.
How Do I Sign Up?
Step 1 - Apply
Complete the Online Application, and allow four (4) business days for processing from date of submission online. (Please be sure to hit submit & then log off when finished) Note: Within 4 days of submission online, you will receive a confirmation email which will include your Sierra College ID number, MySierra login information & your Sierra College email account address.

Step 2 - Assessment
If you are planning to take English, Math, Reading or English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, you must take the Assessment. If you are not planning to take English, Math, Reading or English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, you do not have to take the Assessment. Schedule an Assessment appointment by calling any of the Sierra College Counseling Offices at Rocklin, Nevada County Campus (NCC) or Tahoe-Truckee Center (Sierra College ID number required). Step 3 - Orientation
Schedule an Appointment by calling any of the campus Counseling Offices below:
- Rocklin Campus & Roseville Gateway Center: Orientation/ Counseling appointments can be made by calling (916) 660-7400.
- Nevada County Campus: Orientation/Counseling appointments can be made by calling (530) 274-5303. Please refer to the Orientation schedule (.pdf) for dates & times.
- Tahoe-Truckee Center: Orientation/ Counseling appointments can be made by calling (530) 550-2225
Step 4 - Counseling Appointment
Meet with your high school counselor to determine what course(s) would be appropriate for you to take at Sierra College. Academic Enrichment students do not meet with Sierra College counselors. Please note: Grades earned at Sierra College become part of your permanent Sierra College transcript.
Step 5 - Submit AEP form
Print & complete the Academic Enrichment Permission form (.pdf) , then submit to a Sierra College Admissions Office. (Please note: this form requires student, parent, High School Counselor & Principal signatures).
Step 6 - Register for classes
Set up your MySierra account to register for courses online, review your schedule, fees or grades, checking your college email or access the library database. You may register for classes beginning with the New student registration time period. For more information regarding how & when to register, go to our Registration page online or refer to the printed class schedule which is available early November for the Spring semester and late March for the Summer/ Fall semester.
Step 7 - Attend Classes
AE Students are establishing a permanent college record, and are responsible for knowing college deadlines and procedures.
Step 9 - Transcript Request
After completion of the course(s), request an official copy of your course grades be sent to your high school by following the transcript request procedures.
