The Sierra College Botanical Society Spring Lecture Series is presented at the Rocklin Campus, located at 5000 Rocklin Road, in Sewell Hall, room 111. All lectures begin at 7:00 p.m. A suggested donation of $5.00 will be accepted at the door.

“Tip-toe Through the Tulips” with Mark Hopkins
Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m.
The Sierra College Botanical Society will present the second event of this springs lecture series titled “Tip-toe Through the Tulips” presented by Mark Hopkins. Hopkins is a regional sales manager for Simple Pleasures Flower bulbs and Perennials. He has spent 18 years in the flower bulb field visiting growers, gardens, garden centers and marketing new varieties from the Netherlands and around the world. Mark’s passion is educating people about the colorful rewards flower bulbs offer. He will take you on a fun and fascinating visual stroll through the Tulip fields of Holland, visiting the Keukenhof and once a decade Floriad. See the newest varieties of flower bulbs coming to market in 2008 and beyond. Enjoy an evening filled with the color and history of flower bulbs.
Best Roses for the Home Garden
Thursday, April 10 at 7 p.m.
Baldo Villegas will discusses new rose varieties and oldies but goodies that thrive in home gardens. Attendees are invited to bring samples of rose problems, diseases and insects for identification, and questions related to rose horticulture or entomology and pest management in the home garden. Baldo Villegas is a Master Rosarian, recipient of several awards from the American Rose Society, and maintains more than 1000 roses in his own garden in Orangevale.
