Child Development Centers - since 1976

Sierra College Child Development programs provide services to our college families and our local communities. We currently operate State Preschools in the communities of Auburn, Grass Valley, Rocklin and Roseville, providing quality child care to young children ages three to five years. These programs are free to income qualifying families.

Additionally, we offer a Fee Based program at our Rocklin Campus for children aged two to five, and at our Sierra College - Nevada County Campus in Grass Valley for ages three to five years.

Philosophy

We believe that children come to our program with unique backgrounds, developmental patterns, and experiences. Our centers strive for a child-centered program that facilitates social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth in a safe, caring environment. We view learning as an active process by which children learn best and gain self-confidence when ample opportunities exist for direct hands-on experiences and decision-making.

Activities

Our Centers provide an exciting place where children can explore, research, experiment and reflect on a multitude of experiences. Children learn through hands-on experiences that build skills in: Literacy, Math, Science, Art, Physical and Social Development.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to develop excellence through shared learning, and is based on developmentally and culturally appropriate practices that help each child meet his or her individual needs and interests.

Mentor Teachers

Sierra College students studying in the early childhood development field, spend time in the child development center labs. This allows student teachers to observe children learning and playing, while at the same time developing innovative teaching skills.

Staff

Our Centers are staffed by experienced and educationally qualified personnel. We are dedicated to the positive development of your child!

All programs are licensed by the California State Department of Social Services and meet or exceed regulations and standards outlined in California Administration Code, Title 5 and Title 22.

Tuition

We offer both State Preschool Programs and Fee Based Preschool Programs at most Centers. Because costs and ages vary for our Fee Based Preschool Programs, please contact the Center you are most interested in, for an up-to-date age and fee schedule. Please let the Center know whether you are interested in a Full-Day Program or a Half-Day Program for your child/children.
