Basketball Summer Camp 2008

About the Camp

Coach John Fusano and staff would like to invite you this summer to the Sierra College 19th Annual Boys' Basketball Camp for ages 7 through 16. Game and individual skills will be covered daily.

Each day will be energy-packed & fun, providing the basic fundamentals of basketball. There will be a special emphasis on teamwork and discipline. The camp will feature guest speakers, contests, team play, and individual competitions. Campers should bring their own lunch & snacks each day and a swimsuit (swimming optional).

Head Coach, Men's Basketball, Sierra College

Coach Fusano played and coached for 4 years at Ponderosa High. He graduated from Sacramento State University and received his M.A. from St. Mary's College. He has coached at University of the Pacific and Monterey Peninsula College.

Chris Purdy,
Assistant Coach

Coach Purdy played for Coach Fusano at Monterey Peninsula College and coached with him at Sierra. He has been directing camps for many years. He currently teaches Adaptive Education for Placer County.

Camp CounselorsCamp counselors with campers

Camp counselors will be assisting our staff and working closely with all players. There will be one staff member for every eight players. All counselors are Sierra College student athletes. Their experience and enthusiasm contribute greatly to our camp's success.

  • Phone: Have information ready and call Community Education at (916) 781-0590 or (800) 242 4004, ext 2590
  • Mail: Fill out the registration form on the printed brochure, make check payable to Sierra College, and mail to Community Education, 5050 Rocklin Road, Suite A-17, Rocklin CA 95677. Brochures are available on campus or at the Community Education office.
  • Walk in: The Community Education office is located at 5050 Rocklin Road, Suite A-17, Rocklin, CA 95677, Which is located across the street from the Rocklin Campus in the Campus Plaza Shopping Center.  Summer hours: Mon.-Fri., 8:30 am-4:30 pm.

Camp fee includes a camp t-shirt.

Camp Directors

  • John Fusano-Coach, Sierra College Mens' Basketball Coach.
    • John Fusano played and coached at Ponderosa High School for four years and at Delta College for four years. He graduated from Sacramento State University and received his MA from St. Mary's College. As Assistant Coach at the University of the Pacific in 1998, Fusano coached the number one pick in the NBA draft, Michael Olowokandi. As Head Basketball Coach at Monterey Peninsula College, he enjoyed a 16-8 league record over his last two seasons. He is looking forward to seeing you at camp!
  • Chris Purdy-Assistant Coach, Sierra College
    • Chris Purdy has played and coached for Coach Fusano for two years at Sierra College. Coach Purdy recently received his BA degree in Physical Education from Sacramento State University. Before CSUS, he played for Coach Fusano at Monterery Peninsula College.
  • Calvin Tang-Assistant Coach, Sierra College
    • Coach Tang has completed his second year as assistant coach for Fusano after playing two seasons at Sierra College. Prior to Sierra, he played at Irvington High School in Riverside, CA. Coach Tang is currently attending California University Sacramento earning his B.A. in Physical Education.
