Cheer Squad Coaches

Elisabeth Moss

Elisabeth Moss is the current head coach at Sierra College. She is currently in her second year of coaching at Sierra and it is her goal to have the Sierra College Cheer Squad become nationally known and recognized.

A former competitive gymnast, Elisabeth turned to cheerleading as a way to get involved in school while using her gymnastics skills. She cheered at Vacaville High School and was a member of the competitive All-Girl and Co-Ed cheer squads from 1994-1998. In the spring of 1998 she was selected to be a staff member of the Universal Cheerleader’s Association for the Northern California Region, to teach camps and judge cheerleading competitions throughout the region, which she still remains active with to this day. She chose to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she was a member of the nationally ranked swimming and diving team from 1999-2001, and competed the 1 and 3 meter springboard for the Huskers in the Big 12 Conference. In 2001, after two years of spring-board diving at the Division 1 level, she decided it was time to return to cheerleading and became a member of the nationally recognized Nebraska Yell Squad.

Cheerleader Elisabeth Moss As a cheerleader at Nebraska she was fortunate to cheer at many games, as received national exposure weekly on television during televised football, volleyball and basketball games. The team was featured on ESPN during the UCA College National Cheerleading Championship competitions, as well as on the documentary series “Outside the Lines” about college cheerleading in 2002. The team also filled a promotional spot for EA Sports in 2003 for use in the opening segment of their college football video game that debuted that year. It was a whirlwind college career as a two sport student athlete, and she graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Advertising in the spring of 2003.

Elisabeth is currently employed with the leading cheerleading and dance uniform company in the nation, working as a sales representative in the Sacramento region. Her coaching experience began 12 years ago as a gymnastics coach working for the Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department in 1996 coaching Tiny Tots through Level 8. She remained active as a coach in college, coaching gymnastics for various gyms in Lincoln, Nebraska. Besides teaching for UCA she has also coached cheer at the high school level, coaching for Vacaville High School in 1998 as well as recently serving as a consultant for the co-ed cheer squad of Lincoln High School in Lincoln, CA. She has also worked for Club Spirit in Rancho Cordova, coaching their Level 3 and College teams.

She is looking forward to the 2008 tryout season to add even more talent to the team. If more information is needed regarding tryouts, team information, etc. please contact her via email at emoss@varsityspirit.com or by calling 916-928-9194.

Vanessa Munoz

Vanessa and ElisabethVanessa Munoz started cheerleading when she was 8 years old and cheered on numerous school sanctioned and all-star teams until she finished her competitive career at Sacramento State as co-captain in 2006. Her love for cheer is now found in coaching which she began when she was 15. Since then, she has coached at the high school and collegiate levels, pop warner, Club Spirit Rockets and also as a UCA staff member. While she enjoys coaching all age groups, her true passion is at the collegiate level where she believes the physical and mental maturity of her cheerleaders gives them the desire and ability to truly excel.
