Head Coach: Tim Hovancsek
First year Head Coach Tim Hovancsek comes to Sierra College after 25 plus years in the golf business. A PGA Master Professional (185th out of 28,000 members) is passionate about enhancing each and every student-athlete’s game and life’s experiences. ”Goal driven, we WILL be prepared to be the best”!
Serving as Assistant Coach the past three seasons Hovancsek wants to continue building on the recent success we have developed in reaching our goal of being “the best Community College Golf program in California”.
The 2006 and 2007 seasons have shown tremendous growth setting records with first-time STATE Championship Medalist (Lucas Delgado, 2006) and the 2007 class producing the best season in the history of Sierra College Golf winning both the Big 7 Conference Championship and Nor Cal Championship.
With MVP golfers Nick Neal and Steven Edman moving on, 2008 will be a challenge to repeat our success of Conference and Nor Cal Champions. But our goal to repeat is still in sight and gives us a great opportunity to grow as a team. Led by returning All League Steve Riley and hard-working Robbie Bendorf coupled with one of the strongest influx of freshman players, I see this as one of the most competitive teams ever assembled at Sierra College. “6 to 360” will be our motto for the year!
Committed to assisting his players onto the next level, we will hold each member of our team accountable in preparation and performance in the classroom and on the course. Go Wolverines!

Home Course: Morgan Creek Golf and Country Club
We greatly appreciate the owners of the Morgan Creek Golf and Country Club for allowing us the privilege of playing their great track. Rated as one of the top golf courses in Northern California, the par 72 Kyle Phillips designed course is equally challenging as its pristine condition. Hovancsek says “having our team play here on a daily basis has definitely improved the mental toughness and ball striking of each of our team members”.
