2006 Season Review
The 2006 season was a season in transition. We had a small roster of 17 and of those 17, three were goalkeepers. It was a season filled with intensity, comradery, teamwork, and chemistry.
The season started with fitness testing, a new concept for most incoming freshman. Not only were the freshmen wide eyed, but the sophomores had to lead by example and set the tone. They pulled through the fitness and instantly started to bond as a team.
Each game we played was a tough match which always had great high points. Every single player picked her game up and improved. Having such a small roster size, I counted on every player to mentally and physically be ready to jump in the game. Injuries were a huge issue for the team with 2 ACL injuries early in the season. Staying healthy was the single most important factor for our team to survive. The girls took this as a challenge and rose to the occasion. We were playing our best soccer toward the end of the season, but unfortunately the long season caught up with us and we fell to College of the Sequoias in the 2nd round Playoffs. The 2006 Sierra College soccer team faced adversity and was able to overcome it and move forward into the 2007 season.
