Congratulations Sierra Softball2007 softball Team

The Sierra College Softball team starts the 2007 season with three returnees, one transfer player, 14 newcomers and 2 red shirt players.  Leading the squad this season are the 3 returnees Lilly Nevarez (Lincoln High), Ashley Edgar (Roseville High) and Shelby Fleming (Woodcreek High).

The first line of defense in the Wolverine infield is where Lilly Nevarez, Candice Wermes (Bear River) Amanda Morales (Mesa Verde), Courtney Olow (Foothill High) and Jena Boncore (Del Campo) will be spending most of their time in the middle infield.  At Third base Shelby Fleming (Woodcreek) and Wittney Pierson (Cordova) will anchor the left side of the infield. Anchoring the right side of the infield at first base will be Amparo Morales (Mesa Verde) and lending a hand will be Courtney Olow and Jena Boncore.

The Wolverine pitching staff consists of Leticia Cisneros-Coyne (St. Francis), a finesse pitcher with great command of her pitches.  Nicole Kociemba (Casa Robles) a lefty pitcher who relies on her great movement and accuracy of her pitches. Amanda Morales will also help out on the mound and is a hitter for the Wolverines.  Wittney Pierson is also a right-handed pitcher who has good control of her pitches and will be an attribute to the wolverine pitching staff. And rounding out the pitching staff will be Nikki Scott (Middleton High-Clear Lake) a right-handed pitcher who likes to mix up her pitches and has good command of her change-up.

The battery for the Wolverines are several strong-armed catchers Ashley Edgar, Sam Scott (Placer), Carli Leary (Oakmont), Brittany Scott (Bella Vista) and Tina Moen (Rio Linda). These catchers bring and great deal of experience and leadership to the Wolverines catching position.

The Wolverines last lines of defense consist of several outfielders. Bo Newman (Rio Linda), Candice Wermes, Tina Moen, Jena Boncore, Nikki Scott and Brittany Scott will all spend time in the Outfield.

This team has amazing team chemistry. They are truly special. Training with the team this season are 2 red shirt athletes Kristen Corral (Lincoln) and Katie Elmore (Colorado)  With strong team chemistry, very good pitching and the ability to score runs the Wolverine softball team plans to make a run at a Big 7 Conference Championship. Game On!!!
