At third base will be Cortney Jones (Colfax). Anchoring the right side of the infield at first base will be Pado Morales (Mesa Verde), and Rachel Hamilton (Oakmont). NFCA 2007 All-American Candice Wermes (Bear River) and Courtney Olow (Foothill) will be spending time at short stop, second base, third base and first base. Candice and Courtney are true utility players.
The Wolverine pitching staff consists of Sophomore Nicole Kociemba (Casa Robles), a lefty with a dangerous rise ball. Sophomore Leticia Cisneros (St. Francis) is a right-handed pitcher who has good control of her pitches and will be a tough pitcher to beat. Her change-up is one of the best in the state. And rounding out the pitching staff will be freshman Jackie Kragel (Union Mine) will be the newest member of the pitching staff. Sophomore Wittney Pierson (Cordova) will be helping the Wolverines in the circle and also at third base.
Part of the battery for the Wolverines consists of three strong-armed catchers. Meet Carli Leary (Oakmont), Cortney Jones (Colfax) and Megan Wheeler (Rocklin). All of these catchers bring and great deal of experience and leadership to the catching position.
The Wolverines last lines of defense consist of several outfielders. Jessica Powell (Casa Robles) will hold down centerfield while Bo Newman (Rio Linda), will help JP out in center and spend most of her time in left field. Karra Leota (Foothill) is a speedy player who will hold down the right side of the outfield for the Wolverines. Megan Renn (Roseville), Brittany Noble (Del Oro) will add a great deal of depth to the outfield. This team has amazing team chemistry. They are truly special. Strong team unity, good pitching, team speed and power at the plate are just a few qualities that the Wolverines possess.
With strong team chemistry, very good pitching and the ability to score runs, the Wolverine softball team plans to make a run at a Big 8 Conference Championship. Believe in One!
