Men's Swimming & Diving - Our Coaches

Men's Head Coach - Chris Breitbart

Coach BreitbartSpring 2008 marks Breitbart’s sixth year coaching the Wolverines’ mens swimming team at Sierra College. Over the path five years Sierra has produced more than 20 All-American swimmers and broken 17 of 18 prior school records. The wolverines have also recorded two top-four finishes and four top-ten finishes in California as well as an individual state champion in 2004.

Breitbart has a long history of success in swimming. He graduated from California State University, Bakersfield where he was an NCAA National Champion and All-American. His coaching career began in Bakersfield in 1998, where he coached swimmers of all levels. Breitbart began coaching at the community college level in 2002 and since that time he has been named Conference Coach of the Year twice following 2004 and 2006 seasons. He looks forward to showcasing local talent and continuing to teach through swimming and water polo.

Assistant Coach- Justin Smith

This is Justin's third season as the men's assistant swim coach and was also the assistant for the inaugural water polo season last fall. Justin competed for Sierra College from 2000-2002, participating in both swimming and water polo. He then transferred to UC Santa Cruz where he played another year of water polo and swam both years leading as team captain his senior year. Finishing in 2004 he earned his BA in psychology.

Justin has been doing some form of coaching since then. Justin has coached summer recreation swim teams, Rocklin masters, and All-American Swim Academy. Justin is an accomplished triathlete qualifying and competing in World Championships in Hamburg, Germany in 2007 for Olympic Distance. He is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys open-water swimming, photography, mountain biking and traveling. Justin is planning on earning a graduate degree and pursuing some form of teaching.
