2007 Season Outlook
Sierra College Women's volleyball has lofty goals for 2007. With only one returner from last year and 10 first year players the Wolverines have their work cut out for them. This year's team, although young, has a strong core of players with lots of high level experience. We have a Junior Olympian, League MVP, several athletes who played in sectional playoff matchds, and one in the state championship tournament. The players and the talent are there to reach the playoffs and beyond.
Running the offense will be Kristen Cleland (El Dorado), Sarah Lowery (Placer) will also be setting. Kim Albers (Woodcreek) will be controlling the middle attack along with Farrin Smith (Rocklin) and Amanda Peterson (Kaiser). Outside HItters will include Brittany Wynne ( Christian Brothers), Geanna Foster (Sierra Christian), Karly Greenshields (Folsom) and Jacquelyn Prat (Bella Vista). Rounding out the roster defensivly for theWolverins are returner Ashley Wardlow (Del Campo) and Mami Miyage (Orasho Japan).
The Big 8 conference is one of the toughest around and Head Coach Vera Nelson has planned a preseason schedule that can only prepare the team for one goal: to reach the state tounament, an impressive feat with such a young team.; This is a time for our athletes to shine. There are things to improve upon but the poewer, skill, and desire are all there to build on and bring Sierra College a successful 2007 for women's volleyball.
