Claudia Jaramillo

ClaudiaI’m Claudia Jaramillo. I came from Colombia, South America where I studied and worked as a designer for almost 12 years. When my family and I came to the United States, we had to study English. I have been taking E.S.L classes in Sierra Collage since 2005. Now I feel happiness and gratitude because I have been able to take regular classes necessary to complete my career’s transfer and getting an A/A certificate from Sierra Collage or a Bachelor Degree in the California State University of Sacramento. When I get this goal, I’ll be able to work in this country and be more confident and happy.

I’ve lived in America almost 2 years. I learned English in school in Korea. After I graduated from school, I never use the English I learned. I came here to America to live, so I have to study English and decided to go to school. I have a daughter, and I am a housewife. I have to take care of my family. Along with other outside activities, it doesn’t leave much time for anything else. I heard that listening to the radio and watching T.V. or movies are good for me, but I can only do my homework and study for test in classes. Fortunately, I have been very lucky to make an American friend. Although I have been able to make American friends which has been very helpful in helping me learn English. One of the reasons English is so important to me, is I want to become a nurse. It is challenge to me. I take my personal goal very seriously. I feel very lucky and fortunate to be in America fulfilling my dreams.
