Thanksgiving in Ukraine

The Thanksgiving Day is very important holidays for people of any society. On this day, you say things to all people for their good deeds, you thanking God for successes and progress in your life. On that day American people gather in families or with their friends near the table. Number one dish is turkey. Ukrainians thank God for their life in the Christmas Eve. The dishes during Holy Supper are also traditional: kutya, golupzi, dishes from fish and mushrooms. Kutja is boiled wheat kernels or rice with honey, raisins, nuts and poppy seeds. The main feature of cooking at Holly Supper is that you shouldn’t use any animal meat in your dishes. The whole family gathers near the table, pray and sings special Christmas songs. Children carry the food to old lonely people and god parents. Children are very glad for Christmas presents, that are given to them by their god parents as thankfulness for the food they brought. During that evening people greet each other wishing long life and good luck, worship God singing traditional Christmas songs. This tradition continues in the Ukrainian nation.

My Dream

An-nyung-ha-se-yo? It means “Hello” in Korean. My name is Kyumin from South Korea. I came here 3 months ago and I have a dream that I will be a nurse in the U.S. I was a nurse in my country. I worked in a general ward and an operating room. It was very difficult but it was worth. Especially, when someone left a hospital in good health who had very severe illness or condition. When I was in the operating room, there were a boy who got burned over 80% of his whole body. He was a very good son and he worked in a B.B.Q. restaurant in order to help his family. One day, when he carried a pot with coals, his owner sprinkled oil over the restaurant who was angry with his wife. That moment, the fire moved to him. At first, his condition was very bad. He had operations and rehabilitation training many times. He could stand the painful time. Finally, he could speak and move by himself. His story was televised all over the country and he gave us deep impression. I was so glad to watch his recovery. I learned about how I live my life through him. Also, I always thank from the bottom of my heart that I am a help to patients. Even though, I am a student right now, I still have a dream which I will work in an operating field as a nurse my dream come true.

The Mexican Revolution

In November twentieth of 1910 started the Mexican Revolution the last Civil War registered in Mexico. That conflict happened because the government of president Pofirio Diaz privileged a rich people and damage a poor people during more of thirty years and the majority of the population was disagree with this kind of government. In the North Venustiano Corranza, Francisco Villa, Alvaro Obregon leader the rebelt toreas in the south Lmilano Zepata Headed the revolutionaries. The battles during six years and finally the rebelts took the power after the exile of Portirio Diaz. However in this fight the revolutionaries leaders don’t have a ideology or what they must do at final of the war, and that affects the country’s recovery. That was a terrible time with thousands of people dead and finally Carranza First and Obregon Later took the control of the country. This was a great step in the evolution of the country and settled the bases for the modern Mexico. That happened almost one hundred years ago and curiously one hundred years after Mexico was independent from Spain. It will expect a great celebration in the year 2010 in Mexico.
