Biography
Dorla Menmuir, director of choirs and teacher of voice at Sierra College, received her B.A. in Music History from the University of California, Riverside and her M.A. in Vocal Performance from California State University, Chico. She has sung with internationally known conductors Roger Wagner, Brian Priestman and William Hall, and she has toured Germany with the California Choral Company and the Luxembourg Symphony.
Dorla, who has performed as soloist with the Sacramento Symphony, has also starred in leading roles in The Magic Flute, The Impresario, Bastian and Bastienne, Orpheus in the Underworld, and Slow Dusk. Presently Dorla sings under Donald Kendrick in the Sacaramento Choral Society.
She has been artistic director and conductor of the Baroque Chorale and Orchestra in Grass Valley, the New Orpheon Men's Choir, and the New Orpheon Chorale. She has taught at all grade levels and for thirty years her high school choirs and private voice students took top honors in festivals throughout northern California and Nevada. Dorla is in demand as adjudicator, clinician, choir conductor and lecturer. She maintains a voice studio in Grass Valley.
