Associate Degree Registered Nursing Selection Process

Applications for the Associate Degree Registered Nursing Program are posted on-line throughout each application acceptance period. There is a thirty day application acceptance period in each spring and fall semester. It is important that COMPLETE application packets are submitted by designated application deadline.

Currently, students submitting their application during the semester application acceptance periods are randomized for selection and evaluated for qualifying criteria. Thirty students are accepted for the fall semester during the spring application acceptance cycle. Twenty students are accepted for the spring semester during the fall application acceptance cycle. Nursing theory is provided in the traditional classroom setting each fall and in the on-line setting each spring.

Application acceptance cycle dates and Associate Degree Nursing Program applications are posted on the nursing website each spring and fall semester.

Once the application acceptance period has ended, each application is evaluated using qualifying criteria for the Chancellor’s Office Predictor of Success formula (Community College Nursing Prerequisite Validation study). Data elements entered into this formula are as follows:

  • Grade Point Average (GPA) from all colleges attended
  • GPA in English 1A
  • GPA in sciences: microbiology, anatomy, and physiology
  • The number of times microbiology, anatomy , or physiology courses have been repeated (Repeats after a withdrawal have the same negative impact as do repeats after a failure).
  • Excel spreadsheet formula (.xls) Use to determine your score.
  • RN Qualifying Worksheet (as a Word .doc) or (as a .pdf)

Please monitor the nursing website for information updates.

Students are strongly encouraged to review information listed on the nursing website and make an appointment with an academic counselor for educational planning.
