International Club News
Shanty town at Sierra College
Last year the club sponsored an on-campus event to educate students and the community at large on the issue of homelessness. Club members along with a few brave faculty members camped out on campus for the 2 night event in a makeshift shantytown. The club collected coats during the event and donated them to a local non-profit organization and also had a free soup line.
Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Work
Last year a group of students from our club traveled to Redding, CA and spent their spring-break week working together with the Habitat for Humanity organization building homes for families in need. The organization has built more than 200,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1,000,000 people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter www.habitat.org.
People and Culture Days “Costumes of the World” fashion show
Club members participated in People and Culture Days by walking down the fashion show runway in their cultural outfits from their native country. Countries represented in this “costumes of the world” fashion show included Vietnam, Hong Kong, Japan, Mongolia, Brazil, Venezuela, Africa, El Salvador, India and the United States.
Club Day
We participated in club day on campus to help recruit and educate fellow students on what our club is all about. The club also held a fundraiser BBQ and few other events to raise money for the club this semester.
