Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the EOPS program, students must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a California resident for at least one year and one day before school starts;
- Be enrolled full-time (12 units) when accepted into the
EOPS program.
Exception: Upon the recommendation of an EOPS counselor and approval by the Program Coordinator, up to ten percent of EOPS students may be enrolled for less than 12 units. - Have completed no more than 70-degree applicable units.
- Be approved for a Board of Governors Enrollment Fee Waiver (BOGW) under either the BOGW "A" or "B" criteria:
- BOGW A - Receive public benefits such as TANF/ CalWORKs, SSI/SSP, GA, VETS
- BOGW B - Use this method to see if you qualify based
on 2006 income:
- Household Size of 1 AND an Income Standard of $14,700 or less
- Household Size of 2 AND an Income Standard of $19,800 or less
- Household Size of 3 AND an Income Standard of $24,900 or less
- Household Size of 4 AND an Income Standard of $30,000 or less
- Add $5,100 thereafter for each additional member in household.
- Be educationally disadvantaged as determined by the Program Coordinator (must meet one or more factors from the following list):
- Writing/ Math/ Reading proficiency requirements:
- Does not qualify for English 1A, English 12, or Business 125. (college level writing course)
- Does not qualify for Business 64, Math A. (college level math)
- Does not pass proficiency test in reading.
- Does not have a high school diploma, GED certificate or high school equivalency certificate.
- Graduated from high school with less than a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. (Transcripts required for documentation)
- Has been previously enrolled in remedial/developmental education, in adult education, high school or any higher education institution.
- OTHER FACTORS: (Upon approval of Program Coordinator)
To Be Eligible for the CARE Program, Students Must:
- Be EOPS eligible;
- Be at least 18 years of age and be single head of household;
- Be a current recipient of AFDC/ TANF/ CalWORKs;
- Have one child under 14 years of age; and
- Be enrolled full-time upon admission to the program.
