Sierra College students are not required to provide proof of immunizations for enrollment. Certain departments, however, have required immunizations and/or proof of freedom from disease.
Nursing:
Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse and Nursing Assistant students must provide proof of the following:
- Hepatitis B: three dose series and titer proving immunity
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR): two dose series
- Polio: four dose series unless born and raised in the United States
- Proof of immunity to Varicella (chicken pox)
- Proof of freedom from tuberculosis:
- Negative two-step Mantoux skin testing; or
- Negative chest x-ray for those who react or have reacted to the tuberculosis skin testing in the past
Health Sciences:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) students must provide proof of the following:
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR): one dose after one year of age
- Proof of freedom from tuberculosis:
- Negative tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux test) within one year; or
- Negative chest x-ray for those who react or have reacted to the TB skin testing in the past
- Hepatitis B: three dose series is recommended
Residence Halls:
All residence hall students must provide proof of immunization against Meningococcal Meningitis or sign a waiver declining the immunization.
