S.D. 801 Skill Development Computer Lab
All students who use this computer lab will automatically be enrolled in S.D. 801 Skill Development described as "Supervised Tutorials" in the college catalog. This is a non-credit course.
State compliance regulations requires this lab to be used for Educational Purposes* only. You may use the computers for Sierra College course related Internet research, assignments and course related e-mail only.
*Please read the Computer Acceptable Use Agreement before using a computer.

Computer Access
- 70 - PC "open lab" computer stations
- 10 - Assistive Technology stations
- 13 - iMac stations
- 5 - HP Scan Jet scanner stations
- 2 - Printers: printing fees: 20 copies free/day, 5 cents for each additional page printed.
- 1- HP Business Jet color printer: color copy fees: full page: $1.00/ copy; less than a full page; 25¢/ copy
- All computers have internet access.
- 1- typewriter
To access a computer you must be currently enrolled in at least one course for the current semester.
F.A.Q.
- Sign In:
The Accutrack sign in screen will ask you to type your Sierra College ID #. You will them be brought to a screen that will have you select the Skill Development SD-801 Lab and your Objective for using the lab (Course Assignment, Course E-mail or Course Internet Research). After you select the Lab and Objective press the DONE button at the bottom of the screen, you will then have access to the computer.
- Saving files:
If you need to save any documents please use the SAVE AS option and save to the My Documents folder located on the desktop.
* Files saved in My Documents folder are deleted on the last day of each month. You may also save you files in the LRC444 Share on sc30 located in My Documents, which will give you access to your files on any computer in the LRC lab.
*Files in the share folder remain there until the last day of the semester.
- Printing Policy:
- Only Sierra College course-related documents may be printed in the Student Computer Center.
- No personal or non-college related documents may be printed in this lab!
- There is a 20 page limit per day. Additional pages (over 20 pages) are .10 cents /page-pay at the Help Desk. Color Printing Fees: $.50 -$1.00 /page (Excessive printing may result in future increases in printing fees.)
- The Student Computer Center is not responsible for unclaimed papers. If papers are left in the printout box for over an hour the attendant will put them in the recycling bin.
- Sign Out:
When you are finished using a computer you must sign out by clicking on the icon with your name that appears when you sign in. Please close all programs before signing out.
Why do we need to sign in to a computer?
- Validation - Signing in verifies that you are a current student
- Statistics - The Accutrack system records the use of the lab computers and its resources.
- Privilege Restrictions - If a student abuses lab use privileges the Accutrack system allows lab management to restrict their access to the college’s computer lab resources.
Assistive Technology and Macintosh computer users must sign in at the Help Desk. Sign-ins are tracked and recorded as SD801, a non-credit course.
A staff member is available to assist students with Office/Word Processing applications and other programs installed on our computers. If you require further assistance please go to the Writing Center (Room LR-424) or Tutor Center (room LR-402).
