The Sierra College Natural History Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of Biology professor Keely Carroll as its first official Museum Director. This half-time position marks the beginning of a partnership between the Natural History Museum, the Sierra College Foundation and Sierra College to develop self-sustaining funding streams for the Museum and to expand the depth and breadth of Museum offerings for both the campus and the broader community. As Director, Keely will lead efforts to maintain and improve the Natural History Museum, to increase educational opportunities for both Sierra College students as well as local K-12 students, and serve as the Museum’s liaison to the general community.
This partnership has been made possible through the financial support of the Sierra College Foundation. The Natural History Museum Committee greatly appreciates that support as well as the efforts of Sierra College President Willy Duncan, Vice President Rachel Rosenthal, Dean of Science & Mathematics Heather Roberts, Sierra College Foundation Executive Director Sonbol Aliabadi and the Foundation Board in creating this partnership. We are looking forward to working with them and Keely Carroll as Museum Director to revitalize our Natural History Museum and move it forward. We look forward to working together to reenergize and expand the reach of the Sierra College Natural History Museum toward a future when the museum can be all it should be for Sierra College and the citizens of our greater community.
Keely Carrol began her full-time teaching career in Biology at Sierra College, in the fall of 2007.
