History of the Sierra College Foundation

The Sierra College Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax exempt organization that raises money from private donors to support students, college programs and the future of Sierra College. The Foundation was formed in 1972 and incorporated in 1973 with a mission of “giving the community the opportunity to invest in the development of quality educational opportunities for all.”

Thanks to the generosity of businesses, individuals and foundation grants, the Sierra College Foundation has grown along with the college. From its early years when it established its first scholarship, the Sierra College Foundation now awards more than 120 student scholarships each year. The Foundation encourages gifts to enhance college programs, for faculty support, and facility growth.

Since its beginning, the Sierra College Foundation has assisted thousands of donors in fulfilling their philanthropic desires. Since 1973 more than $1 million in Sierra College Foundation scholarships have been awarded to promising students. Other gifts have enhanced numerous degree and certificate programs offered by Sierra College.
