There’s always a market for bright, young teachers who are eager to pass on their knowledge. The Human Development and Family degree program provides students with the necessary education for work in child development programs at various levels.

Whether you want to be an assistant teach or a director, our coursework can prepare you for a rewarding career in shaping the younger generation. It also includes instruction in infant care, preschool, school-age care, children’s advocacy and child care resource and referral agencies.

We also have option for you if you wish to go into family and social services, as well as working with the elderly. With our curriculum, you will be able to general education requirements through courses in lifespan development, marriage, management, family, parenting, and diversity.

The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing grants permits to those preparing to teach children in early childhood education programs and in after-school child care programs. These permits, known as Child Development Permits, authorize service in state funded childcare and development programs. If you plan to teach, these courses are a must-have and the best way to get started on a fulfilling teaching career.

Students develop skills important to employment as instructional assistants in kindergarten and primary grade classrooms in public schools. Course work prepares students who wish to go into family and social services, as well as work with the elderly.

Specific courses in the human development area afford students the opportunity to enhance their quality of life and to meet general education requirements through courses in lifespan development, marriage, management, family, parenting, and diversity.

Early Childhood Education Associate Teacher

Skills Certificate

If you’re looking to get an Associate Teacher Skills Certificate, we’ve got you covered. Along with this skills certificate and documentation of the appropriate field experience, we recommend that you meet with an advisor on how to obtain a Permit through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. This level of course work will authorize you to work as a teacher in both state-funded childcare programs as well as in Title 22, State Department of Health and Human Services programs.

Teacher Certificate

This certificate will allow you to provide service in the care, development, and instruction of children in a Title 22 Program. You may also be able to apply to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing for a Child Development Permit at the Teacher Level. If working with young children is your ambition, this is a great way to get started

Child Development Permit: Teacher

If you’re looking for a permit to get started on your teaching career, our Child Development Permit--Teacher program is here for you. A Child Development Teacher Permit will authorize you to provide service in the care, development and instruction of children in a childcare and development program. You will be able to supervise an Aide, Assistant Permit or Associate Teacher permit holder.

Early Childhood Education

A.A. or A.S. Degree

Do you like working with children? There’s always plenty of room for teachers who are prepared to help children achieve early on. This is the basic degree to start with if you are serious about a lifelong career in teaching. You will learn all the necessary elements for the field, from development to health and safety.

Early Childhood Education: Master Teacher

A.A. or A.S. Degree

If you are looking for a higher position in Early Childhood Education, our Master Teacher degree program is the place for you. You will learn all of the basic requirements of the field, plus have the option of six areas of specialization. Whether you want to work with infants and toddlers or teach music fundamentals, we are ready to teach you how to teach.

Child Development Permit: Master Teacher

A Child Development Master Teacher Permit will allow you to provide service in the care, development and instruction of children in a childcare and development program and supervise all of the above. As a Master Teacher, you will coordinate curriculum and staff development in a childcare and development program, to ensure that your students get the most out of your teaching.

Early Childhood Education: Site Supervisor

A.A. or A.S. Degree

A Child Development Site Supervisor supervises a childcare and development program operating at a single site. If you are the sort who wants to see children succeed early on, this is the career for you, and our degree program can get you there.

Child Development Permit: Site Supervisor

Similar to the Early Child Education—Sire Supervisor AA/AS degree, with this permit, you will be able to instruct the children under your care and give them the best advantage possible. Get qualified to help children get off to a good start in life using excellent teaching and development.
