Are you a writer or poet? The process of writing is a way of sharing and discovering the nature of humanity. Our curriculum fosters excellence in English writing and composition while providing you, the student, with high-quality literature to learn from. You will gain insight into history and culture through understanding and mastery of the English language. The ability to write well is an asset to both everyday life and nearly any career, including business and teaching.

English

A.A. Degree

This is the major for all literary and poetically creative types. Our English program, with an emphasis on literature, is designed to prepare you for transfer to a four-year college or university. You can choose the emphasis of track you need to transfer to the university of your choice in order to make most of your time here. Master the literary arts and write your own career.


The Sierra Journal

The Sierra Journal is a project developed by the students of Sierra College. The Sierra Journal meets several of the college’s core values, specifically “creating and nurturing meaningful connections to our community” and “fostering active citizenship in our community.” As such, the Journal will feature students currently enrolled at Sierra College as well as members of the community with an emphasis on submissions from local high school students. Additionally, the Journal may recognize and publish a “distinguished author” from the Northern California area.
