Renee (Dyer) Welch

Athlete,  Women’s Swimming and Diving

  • Graduated from Rocklin High School (2001), Sierra College (2003) and UC Davis (2005).
  • While at Rocklin, earned NISCA All America honors in 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke,
  • Four-time Rocklin team MVP.
  • Selected to Rocklin Hall of fame, named 2001 Senior Athlete of the Year.
  • While at Sierra, was the 2003 conference and CCCAA California Swimmer of the Year.
  • Earned All-America honors in eight events in 2003.
  • CCCAA state champion in four events in 2003.
  • Set five Sierra College school records (still holds two Sierra records).
  • Ranks in the CCCAA all-time top ten in five events.
  • As a scholarship swimmer at UC Davis, was Big West champion in 100 freestyle.
  • Held or holds UC Davis records in six events and top two all-time in 50 and 100 freestyle.

Adrian Hillman

Athlete, Men’s Basketball

  • Graduated from San Juan High School (1993), attended Sacramento St (1993), Sierra College (1995-96), South Florida (1996-97) and St Leo.
  • While at San Juan, earned All-City honors as sophomore, junior and senior. Named San Juan conference MVP (2003).
  • San Juan retired his jersey after senior season.
  • Led Sacramento St. to win over Minnesota with a 27-point, 12-rebound game (1993).
  • While at Sierra, led team to Bay Valley conference title in 1996.
  • Earned Bay Valley first-team All-Conference and league MVP honors (1996).
  • Was Sun Coast conference Player of the Week for South Florida after triple double vs. Florida Atlantic.
  • Played pro basketball in Austria, Chile, Corsica, France, Germany and Mexico.
  • Was the third overall pick in the USBL draft.

Scott Decker

Coach, Women’s Water Polo, Women’sSwimming and Diving

  • Graduated from Bella Vista High School, UC Davis, US Sports Academy.
  • Twice named Capital Athletic League Coach of the Year as El Camino High School water polo coach (1991, 1995).
  • Assistant women’s water polo coach at UC Davis (1984-1987)
  • Aquatics Director, women’s water polo and women’s swimming coach at Sierra College since 1996.
  • Has coached more than 100 All-American swimmers at Sierra.
  • In 2010, surpassed 300 victories as Sierra’s women’s water polo coach.
  • Has won six conference and NorCal water polo titles at Sierra.
  • Sierra’s women’s swimming and diving teams have 10 straight top five finishes in the state championships (2002-2012).

2007 Wrestling Team

California State Champions

  • Won the 2007 California Community Colleges Athletic Association State Championship under head coach Ken Wharry and assistant coach Don Martinez III.
  • Nine out of 10 Sierra wrestlers at state tournament brought home medals.
  • Winning titles were Norman Richmond (133), and Eric Nye (HWT). Alex Howard (184) finished second.
  • Chauncey Phillips (125), Chris Santana (149), and Mingo Grant (197) earned third place finishes.
  • Other team members were James Ehrig, Mike Fucci, Juan Hall, Max Harpel, Edgar Houghtby, Jase Pierce, Tim Plummer, Kenny Smith, Zeth St. Clair, Jess Stiff, Billy Stmiska, Alex Wallenberg and Travis Wood.
