The Sierra College Show Cheer team returned from Cheer Camp at UCSB and the team took home a total of 4 trophies in the Division 2 all-girl category! They were awarded 2nd place in the cheer category and they took home 3 first place titles for the sideline, fight song and overall “Game Day” competition. Sierra was personally selected to demo a few quarters of a STUNT game against Cal Poly. Since it was performed in front of the entire camp, it proved to be great exposure not only for Sierra College but it was also a great opportunity to showcase what STUNT is all about!

Sierra College is home to one of California’s top community college cheer squads. Sierra Cheer finished first at the 2012 USA College Championships in the 2 year all-girl Junior College division.
The Sierra College show cheer squad, consists of 18 extremely talented women. While the team cheers on the sideline at all Sierra College home football and basketball games throughout the year, they will also compete for a National title in the spring!
The team also participated in STUNT this past year. Originally designed to be considered for NCAA Emerging Sport status, STUNT has resonated with college athletes. Sierra placed 3rd in Division 2 and 12th overall out of 23 teams who participated in the 2012 season.
STUNT removes the crowd-leading element and focuses on the technical and athletic components of cheer. It consists of 4 quarters: including partner stunts, pyramids/basket tosses, group jumps/tumbling and a 2 minute 30 second routine of all music. One of the most popular athletic activities for young female athletes, cheerleading offers a base for this exciting and challenging new sport.
