The goal of this camp is to provide personalized instruction on the fundamentals of softball with an emphasis on pitching, base running, defense and hitting. Each day the director will lecture on a topic that will be reinforced with drills and videos. Players will have opportunities to demonstrate skills in scrimmage and game situations. Campers will be grouped by age and skill level to ensure a positive, rewarding learning experience. Camp will be limited to assure proper coach to camper ratio.
Students are to bring their lunch.
Location: 5000 Rocklin Road, just east of I-80 between Roseville and Loomis, CA.
Darci Brownell, Head Coach, is beginning her 13th season as the Wolverine's Head Coach after serving two seasons as an assistant. In 2009 she helped guide the team to a NorCal Championship and a state runner-up finish with 44 wins, the most wins in Sierra history.
The Wolverines made a trip to the “Elite Eight State Softball Championships” in 2002, 2007 and 2009. The 2010 Wolverines won the Big 8 Conference Championship and reached the NorCal Regional Finals. Darci was named the Big 8 Northern California and State Coach of the Year in 2010. In thirteen seasons as the Wolverine's head coach, her record stands at 485-129.
Experience includes ten years at the high school level where she led Del Campo High School to the playoffs six times. Four of her teams were CAL League Champions, and she was Coach of the Year in 1993. Her overall record at the Varsity level was 139-26.
Darci competed at CSU Sacramento for four years at the catching and outfield positions, and also played ASA summer ball for the Nor-Cal Tremors. She received her B.A. degree from C.S.U.S. in Childhood Development with a minor in Physical Education. She has a Master's Degree in Education and Curriculum.
