Sierra soccer head coach Jason Gantt flashed a smile when he told us his Wolverines were ranked #4 in the nation. That smile lasted about as long as it takes for a crossing shot to get past a goalie as he pointed out Sierra opens against three other NSCAA-ranked programs, beginning with #8 Fresno City College tomorrow @ 5pm at the Sierra Soccer Complex. (Please note: kickoff has changed from 3:30!)

The Wolverines and the Rams are familiar opponents, having met at the end of 2012 in the NorCal finals. Sierra topped FRC 2-1 to advance to the CCCAA Final Four. Has there ever been a season opener with more on the line than this one?

Good Day Sacramento will have a live segment Tuesday morning during the 8am to 9am hour. Tune into CBS13 to see if Good Morning Sac’s Kristen Marshall—who was a lacrosse player at Hofstra and is a good athlete—can score on Sierra’s keeper.
