Film and panel discussion. Doors open at 6pm.  Please join us early for a meet and greet with local resources. Rated R for some drug material, language and violent content. Because of the rating of this film and subject matter, this presentation and discussion is limited to ages 17 and above. Admission is free; however a tax-deductible donation of $5 per ticket at the door is suggested.

Synopsis: Seventeen-year-old Ree Dolly (Jennifer Lawrence) sets out to track down her father, who put their house up for his bail bond and then disappeared. If she fails, Ree and her family will be turned out into the Ozark woods. Challenging her outlaw kin’s code of silence and risking her life, Ree hacks through the lies, evasions and threats offered up by her relatives and begins to piece together the truth. Based on the novel by Daniel Woodrell.

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, John Hawkes and Garret Dillahunt

Won the Best Picture Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. Nominated for four Oscars including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Actress.

The presentation of this film is intended to encourage dialogue about the effects of drug use in small town communities and compare related issues facing residents of Nevada County, while exploring local resources related to drug use recovery.

Presentations will be made at the end of the film with representatives from the Coalition for a Drug Free Nevada County, "CORR", Sierra College Administration of Justice Department, Progress House and local law enforcement officers. Sierra College students will also share personal experiences with addiction and recovery.
