Event Details

Sierra College invites the public to its 2012 Earth Day celebration, Wednesday through Friday, April 18-20 from 10am to 3pm at the Rocklin Campus.  Sierra College has celebrated Earth Day each year since its official world-wide inauguration in April of 1970; that's 42 years of celebrating our Mother Earth! As in years past, Earth Day events at Sierra will culminate on Friday Evening, April 20th, with the 19th annual visit  by renowned actor Lee Stetson as John Muir accompanied by actor Alan Sutterfield as Theodore Roosevelt  in a play performance titled "The Tramp and the Rough Rider." Tickets will be available at the ECOS Booth, or at the door. Best get your tickets early for this popular performance.

For two days, Sierra College will offer live music, great healthy food for purchase, educational, environmental and humanitarian exhibits, Film presentations, and speakers to provide entertainment and information.

Documentary films

*Mother ...Caring for 7 Billion: Learn about human population impacts and solutions – Weds & Thurs, 12:45 in the Student Lounge, located in Building J, Campus Center by the Cafeteria. And    Thurs  6:30 pm, Sewell S-111

*Climate of Change: Be inspired by regular people bringing about change around the world. Weds at 6:30 pm in Sewell Hall S-101.

*Dozens of organizations will present information on wildlife rehabilitation, home gardening information, water and energy conservation, transportation solutions, environmentally friendly products, and more.

*Nature Preserve Guided Walks: Weds, 1pm & Thurs, 2:45 pm. Meet at Amphitheatre

*Nature Preserve Cleanup: Friday, 1pm. Meet at electronic sign in from of Sewell Hall. Bring water and work gloves. Wear a hat and sturdy shoes and clothes.

The sounds of numerous bands will fill the air, emanating from our Amphitheater. Hip-hop artist and poet, Random Abiladeze will perform will perform both days. Professional juggler, Izzi Tooinsky will entertain the crowd with his amazing juggling talents intertwined with amusing and inspiring story telling.

Earth Day events are free of charge and open to the public, with the exception of the play - John Muir "The Tramp and the Rough Rider," - performed by Lee Stetson and Alan Sutterfield in the Dietrich Theatre on Friday, April 20 at 7:00 PM. Advance ticket prices are: General $10 / Students, Seniors and Museum members $5. At the Door, $12 General / Students, Seniors and Museum members $7. All proceeds benefit the Sierra College Natural History Museum.

 Sierra College campus is located at 5000 Rocklin road, in Rocklin. There is a $2 parking fee on campus. Parking permits can be purchased at dispensers located though out the parking lots.
