The Sierra Nevada Winds Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Robert Halseth , performs a program of contemporary and classical wind ensemble music on Saturday, April 21st at 7:30 p.m., Dietrich Theatre, Sierra College, 5000 Rocklin Road, Rocklin, CA.
John Frantz, trumpet soloist, is featured on a stirring rendition of Rafael mendez' "La Virgen de la Macarena." Other selections include the brilliant "Fiesta del Pacifico" by Roger Nixon, H. Owen Reed's "La Fiesta Mexicana," Alfred Reed's "El Camino Real," "Symphonic Dance No. 3, Fiesta" by Clifton Williams and the world premiere of Mike Hannickel's lively arrangement of "El Jarabe Tapatio/La Raspa."
Friends of the Sierra College Library are sponsoring the event. Tickets, availble at the door, are $8 general, $5 seniors and students. There is a $2 parking fee on campus.
