2009 Season Outlook

The 2009 Sierra College Volleyball team will look to continue their success from 2008 with two returners and a host of new talent. The roster includes 15 players and they have been battling in practice to prepare for their season.

Leading the 2009 team is Desiree Hiett 2008 team captain. She has switched roles from oppo to outside hitter and will be a key to the Wolverines offense.  A key leader on defense is soph Larae Saylor who will have a lead role as defensive specialist.

Newcomers to Sierra’s defensive are Libero Alexis Moser, MVP of the Sierra Foothill league (Nevada Union) and Maddy Shelby ds (Del Oro).  At the middle blocking position are transfer soph Danielle Griffin (Bella Vista), and freshman Kristin Dahle (Nevada Union), and Jessica Katz (Capital Christian).

Running the offense will be freshman setters Farrah Brafford (Granite Bay), Elizabeth Catrell (Casa Roble), and Corinna Farris (Bella Vista).  At the outside hitter position are freshman Shelby Madigan (Placer), Lauren Nelson (Granite Bay) and Rachel Vetterlein (Del Oro).

“This years team has a tremendous amount of talent, the key to success will be the ability to create great team chemistry.“ says Nelson, “The big roster creates a very competitive atmosphere in practice each day, which makes for great competitors in matches.”  We are looking forward to a great year.
