How to Become a Tutor
If you have done well in your Sierra College classes and would like to become a peer tutor, we invite you to consider working with us.
To qualify, you must:
- Have an “A” or “B” in the subject to be tutored.
- Be a current Sierra College student enrolled in at least 6 units.
- Have a signed instructor recommendation form for each subject.
- Interview with a Learning Center panel.
- Complete or be concurrently enrolled in Skill Development 1 “Techniques of Tutoring”.
Tutor Training
Skill Development 1, “Techniques of Tutoring”, is a one-unit course designed to provide tutors with the skills they need for effective tutoring. This is the required class for all students who wish to tutor for Sierra College.
