Construction Updates for Spring 2020

The spring 2020 semester marks the start of the first phase of improvements to the Rocklin Campus made possible by Measure E, along with other ongoing projects. These improvements will directly benefit students but will have some temporary impacts on campus parking, food services and the location of some student services.

Parking Structure 

The multi-story structure will help reduce traffic and boost parking on campus by adding 1,501 new General and Staff parking spaces, including American Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant parking and 20 electric vehicle charging stations.

Start date: December 2019

Anticipated completion date: Spring 2021 

Cafeteria Kitchen Remodel 

The kitchen in the Campus Center (J building) will be renovated and updated, including new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to make the building more efficient and comfortable through all seasons.

Start date: December 2019

Anticipated completion date: Spring 2020

Throughout the duration of the parking garage project, there will be the following impacts on campus parking:

  • Lot A2 (near LR building) will be converted to general parking
  • Lot O (off-campus at corner of Rocklin Road and El Don Drive) will be sealed and striped with creation of more spaces and will be open for the entire semester
  • Lot S (near U building) will be converted to staff parking
  • The back road will be closed and parking lots along the road will be inaccessible
  • The tennis courts will be striped to provide 50 staff parking spaces

Updates to the cafeteria kitchen will begin on Monday, Dec. 16, and will continue throughout spring 2020. During this time, J Building will be closed. The following impacts on food services include:

  • The cafeteria and Den will be closed
  • Limited food services will be available in F-11
  • A new mobile food spot will be available next to Student Services (LT building)
  • Additional "grab and go" food options will be available at Stacks Cafe (LR building)

Due to the J Building being closed for construction, the services and locations listed below will temporarily be relocated to the following:  

  • Campus Life/ASSC Office will be located in Winstead Center (L-193)
  • Food Pantry will be located in Winstead Center (L-193)
  • Career & Transfer Connections will be located in the Winstead Center (L-150/Counseling Center)
