Sierra College Theatre Arts Department announces its fall production of I Never Saw Another Butterfly, written by Celeste Raspanti. The show runs October 23 through November 1, 2015 and is directed by Debra Hammond.

Based upon a true story, I Never Saw Another Butterfly follows Raja Englanderova’s experience as a young girl living in the Jewish community known as Terezin—a way-station for Auschwitz during the Holocaust. Over 15,000 Jewish children passed through Terezin and only 100 of these children survived thanks to a teacher who encourages them to express their feelings through drawings and poems. The real-life compilation of the artwork from the children of Terezin is featured in the book I Never Saw Another Butterfly, edited by Hana Volavková. This powerful story shows the best and worst of which the human heart is capable.
