Rachel Combs and Radulf SteiertSierra College Theatre Arts Department announces its spring production of Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize winning play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof directed by Scott Adams. Tickets are on sale now for Performances Dates: April 15-24, 2016.

Set in 1955, Tennessee Williams’ drama examines the web of deceit that threatens to tear apart a rich, dysfunctional Southern family. Over the course of one sultry Mississippi night, accusations of greed, homophobia, dishonesty and sexual desire—long repressed—are revealed.

Winner of the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, “Tennessee Williams never wrote a more explosive play than Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”– Howard Kissel, The Daily News

The story follows two brothers, Brick and Gooper Pollitt and their wives (Maggie and Mae) as they return to the large, Southern plantation home of their father, Big Daddy to celebrate his 65th birthday. News has just struck that Big Daddy’s health scare was unfounded making it seem as if there is much to celebrate, however there is deceit and greed that surrounds this news leading to accusations and devastating consequences. Amidst these confrontations, Brick’s wife, “Maggie the Cat” desperately tries to overcome a tainted past and dire loneliness to win back her husband after an ill-advised sexual encounter with Brick’s best friend, Skipper, whose recent death has sent Brick into a deep drunken spiral over his own guilt, homophobic fears, and distaste for lies.
