This year for the first time, Sierra College Child Development Center is collaborating with the Gold Country Association for The Education of Young Children and Gold Country Kiwanis, to offer the Community “Day of the Young Child, Keeping Kids Safe Carnival.” The event is scheduled for Saturday May 7, 2016 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Sierra College Nevada County Campus. This is a FREE, fun filled event and families with young children are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The purpose of this event is to offer families with young children health and safety information, and to introduce some of our community’s first responders. There will also be farm to table nutritional tips and meal ideas. The event highlights the importance of early childhood development.

At the Festival there will be a tall hook and ladder firetruck, a patrol car, and a demonstration of the “jaws of life” to acquaint the community with safety equipment and procedures. Some of the free offering will include child safety seat inspections, and a health screening clinic. Around 30 public service agencies will be offering activities and information.

Children will be entertained with a bicycle rodeo, fun contests to participate in, a clown making balloon animals and bounce houses. Free hot dogs, chips, drinks, popcorn and snow cones will be served. There will also be a new bicycle give-a-way.

Organizers are anticipating approximately 1000 participants to attend this event at the Nevada County Campus of Sierra College, located at 250 Sierra College Drive. Enjoy Free Parking for the day.
