Sandi EscobarThe Sierra College Ridley Gallery presents Cara a Cara, Photographic Portraiture by Andres Alvarez featuring images of the Latino, Chicano, and Indigenous art community. Alvarez began the Cara a Cara project in 2013, and continues to build the body of work through conversational photo sessions in which he seeks to capture the intimate creative moments of Sacramento based artists, including members of the Royal Chicano Air Force such as Betty Sanchez, Esteban Villa, Malaquias Montoya, Ruben Breseno Reveles, and Senora Cobb, in addition to Sacramento contemporary artists Sandi Escobar, Nathan Cordero, Bryan Valenzuela and many more.

Andres Alvarez grew up in Ripon, CA, relocating to Sacramento in 2003 to attend Sacramento State University. Alvarez purchased a camera in 2008, and it became a new way for him “to create, to see, to reflect”.

Cara a Cara is on display now through April 20, please note Spring Break, Campus closures April 10-14, reception/artist talk March 29 from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Ridley Gallery is located on the first floor of the Library/LR 102, on the Rocklin campus, 5100 Sierra College Blvd, Rocklin, CA 95677. Regular hours for Ridley Gallery are 11am-6:00 pm Monday through Thursday. Admission to Ridley Gallery is free and open to the public.

There is a $3 parking fee on campus. Parking permits are available at dispensers located on the campus parking lot.
