Ridley Gallery

A Cultural, Educational Hub for the Region

Ridley Gallery complements and expands the educational environment of Sierra College and the community by featuring an exceptional range of arts programming.

The gallery exhibits high caliber work of leading regional, national, and international artists, as well as faculty artists, alumni, and students in seven shows throughout the academic year. Recurring annual exhibitions include the Hallberg Award Exhibition, the Holiday Show and Sale, and the Annual Juried Student Exhibition.

Located on the Rocklin campus of Sierra College, this 1000-square-foot gallery was dedicated in the spring of 1998. The gallery is named in memory of Robert Ridley, an art professor who long believed a college gallery would enrich the cultural experience and understanding of students through exposure to local and nationally recognized artists.

An advisory board and part-time director, Lisa Marasso, administer Ridley Gallery and coordinate planning and exhibits. Student workers and Sierra College Patrons volunteers provide staffing during gallery hours.

Online Artist Lecture with Aida Lizalde

The Sierra College Art department and Ridley Gallery presented the first event in our lecture series, an artist talk by Aida Lizalde. A multi-media artist, Lizalde investigates issues of citizenship, power, heritage, nationality, and other personal and political experiences. Continuously questioning assimilation to the United States as an immigrant is at the core of her practice. Her award-winning artwork has been exhibited throughout California at institutions such as the Chandra Cerrito Contemporary, Southern Exposure, and the Torrance Museum.

This lecture was originally recorded March 25, 2021.

Prologue Exhibition, Spring 2021

Ridley Gallery is pleased to present Prologue, an online exhibition featuring a sampling of the works of Angelina Coughlin, Vincent Pacheco, and Jennifer Lugris (Packer). While we have postponed the on ground solo exhibitions of these recent additions to the Sierra College full-time faculty in Art and Applied Art and Design, Prologue is an introduction into their work and a taste of what is to come.
