What is 2+2 Articulation?

    • Email

2+2 Articulation Program is designed to help students make a smooth transition from high school to college without experiencing duplication in learning. Students successfully completing an articulated course while attending high school can, upon enrolling at Sierra (and meeting specific course or unit requirements), be awarded college units for that course and are released from pre-requisite requirements in sequential courses.

This process is free of charge to the high school student and can result in a savings of money, time and effort, as well as continued, advanced learning in their program of choice.

High school faculty can submit their course curriculum for review by Sierra faculty. If the curriculum matches the College’s time requirements, student learning outcomes, technological skills (if applicable) and other considerations, an articulation agreement is generated. 2+2 agreements are updated every three years.

Articulation meetings are held on a regular basis. These meetings provide high school/ROP instructors the opportunity to meet with the Sierra College faculty to review, update and renew existing agreements and to develop new agreements.

How students get these units on their transcript?

  • Be sure to mention to your Sierra College counselor that you have 2+2 units waiting so they can plan your classes correctly.
  • Visit Career Connections in the Campus Center and fill out and submit a 2+2 form.
    • You will bring an official high school/ROP transcript that shows completion of the course (or have one already on file).
    • You may need to provide additional documentation (ex: CPR Card, portfolio, etc.) — see 2+2 Articulation Guidelines for specifics for each course.
  • Your request will be processed when all documentation and requirements have been met.
  • You will be notified by email when your units have been noted on your transcript. Once submitted to Admissions and Records please allow up to 4 weeks.
  • If you need the course certified more quickly to meet a pre-requisite or for application to the Fire Academy, contact Career Connections as soon as possible, so we can help meet this need.
