The Humanities is a good choice of major if you’re interested in the development of culture. We combine the arts, history, philosophy, and other disciplines in our coursework. You will study human and cultural development throughout history. The Humanities will give you a better understanding of the human experience and make you more culturally aware.

Humanities: General

A.A. Degree

If you want a degree in Humanities but don’t know where to focus, then the General degree program is your best option. You’ll learn to understand various eras and ideals as expressed in art, literature, philosophy and other topics. The Humanities: General A.A. degree pattern affords you the widest array of Humanities coursework from which to choose to satisfy transfer institution requirements.

Humanities: Diverse Perspectives

A.A. Degree

The Humanities is represented by many different kinds of cultures and individuals. In this degree program, you will learn about history, art, and other topic from a diverse perspective. Learning how other cultures are shaped and how it affects people today can be a great asset in any career field.

Humanities: Asian Studies

A.A. Degree

This program is for students particularly interested in Asian culture. Learns the basics of General Humanities while delving deeper into the unique elements of various Asian countries. You will examine Asian philosophy, traditions, and applied practices, such as martial arts. This can be an excellent course of study for students who wish to work at international companies.

Program Student Learning Outcomes (PSLOs)

  • Language of the Humanities: Critically evaluate cultural artifacts (e.g. a work of architecture, music, art, literature, philosophy) using the disciplinary language of the Humanities.
  • Historical Relevancy: Analyze past cultural achievements in the context of present day intellectual expressions.
  • History and Cultural Expression: Evaluate a cultural artifact in the context of the historical era in which it was produced.
  • Writing in the Humanities: Create clear, cogent and coherent essays on topics relevant to the discipline of Humanities.
