First Year Free

Do You Qualify for One Year of Free Tuition?

Your first year of tuition could be free! We want to remove financial barriers, so all students are able to pursue higher education. There is no income requirement—you just need to be a first-time student (earned 12 or fewer college units) and a California resident.

Follow these steps to qualify:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application.
If you are taking summer classes, you will need to complete one of the above applications for two academic years. (See FAQs for details)
  • Enroll full-time: 12 units required, 15 recommended
