Event Details

Event held at Sierra College

The 2017-2018 lecture series of the Sierra College Natural History Museum begins this Friday, September 15th with “Darwin’s Armadillos”, a presentation by Sierra College professor Charles Dailey. Join us Friday evening at 7:30pm for an illustrated tour of Darwin’s experiences with armadillos and other South American mammals. The presentation will be in Sewell Hall (room 111) on the Sierra College-Rocklin Campus.

The Natural History Museum’s newest exhibit focuses on South American mammals, including many species that intrigued Charles Darwin on his famous voyage aboard the HMS Beagle. Professor Dailey was instrumental in coordinating the development of this exhibit, and at this Friday’s presentation he will describe some of Darwin’s explorations in South America, the unusual organisms he found there, and the specimens now on display in the Natural History Museum. Join us to learn more about spike-tailed glyptodonts—an ancient form of giant armadillo—along with other modern and extinct armadillos, as well as ground sloths and other intriguing South American mammals.

This presentation is part of the Sierra College Natural History Museum’s 2017-2018 lecture series, and will be held on Friday, September 15 at 7:30 pm in Sewell Hall, room 111. Tickets are available at the door. Prices are General $5 / Students and Seniors $2 / Museum members free. All proceeds benefit the Sierra College Natural History Museum.

The Sierra College Rocklin Campus is located at 5100 Sierra College Blvd in Rocklin. There is no charge for parking after 4pm on Friday. For more information, call the Sierra College Natural History Museum at 916-660-7926.
