TT Insights: An interactive discussion for the whole community

Event Details

The subject of this month's Dean's lecture is: Language and Social Life: How are they connected?

Dr. Valerie Fridland, UNR Professor of Linguistics, studies how language and social life are intimately connected. Discussion includes common misconceptions about language and dialects, such as what causes dialects, why some people have one, and how much influence parents have on their children’s speech.

Doors open at 6:30 pm for a meet and Greet, with complimentary refreshments from Starbucks. The program will run from 7pm to 8:15pm.

RSVP at: https://sierracollege.ticketleap.com/. Check out the website at www.sierracollege.edu/tt. The Tahoe-Truckee Campus is located at 11001 College Trail, Truckee CA 96161. The lecture is free but there is a $3 parking fee on campus.
