Undocumented Student Center Grand Opening Ribbon-Cutting Event

On Thursday, January 31, from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, Sierra College will hold a Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting event for the new Undocumented Student Center. This project is funded through a grant earned through the California Campus Catalyst Fund. The Center will be housed within the College Cross-Cultural Center located in building K1 on the Rocklin Campus. The public is invited to join Sierra College faculty, staff, and students for this celebration.

The mission of the Undocumented Student Center is to provide a safe, welcoming and supportive space. It will offer nurturing guidance to help empower undocumented students and families with mixed-immigration statuses to meet their higher education and career goals. At the same time, the Undocu-Center will strive to educate the campus community about the needs of undocumented youth and their families through the Undocu-Educator and UndocuAlly programs.

The Undocumented Student Center aims to create a pathway for Undocumented High School students planning to attend any of the Sierra College campuses by providing a step-by-step enrollment process and personalized, identity-conscious support as they begin their college journey. The goal is to encourage undocumented students to be active participants in their education by providing the tools for continuing success in an ever-changing world regardless of their immigration status. The center hopes to educate our campuses and local communities on policies and practices that yield equitable undocumented student outcomes that benefit the cultural and economic needs of our region.
